SelectUSA is a government programme led by the US Department of Commerce that focuses on facilitating job-creating business investment into the US. Since its inception, it has facilitated more than US$270bn in investment.

“Out of hundreds of companies from around the world, we were one of eight chosen in the Agrotech category to present our ecosystem to investors, governments, and global leaders. And most significantly, the only Latin American company in this group,” said CEO Juan Pablo Duque.

“It’s a tremendous honour, but also a great responsibility. We carry with us the name of Colombia and an entire region that is ready to demonstrate that innovation, technology, and sustainability also come from the Latin American countryside.”

Equilibria grows, packs and exports Persian limes from its own farms in the departments of Antioquia and Caldas, and those of third party growers. It also operates the third largest lime nursery in Colombia and has developed an app-based technology platform to monitor and manage its farms.

At the end of 2024, the company launched a new venture to capitalise on growing international demand for Colombian limes and transform the country’s supply of Persian limes by bringing small and medium-sized producers under the Equilibria umbrella to create a productive block of 2,000ha that will supply the international market directly.

“We present a model that connects small and medium-sized producers with the most demanding markets in the world. A system that seeks to close access gaps and make agriculture a powerful tool for social and economic development,” Duque said.
