Exports to the trading bloc accounted for 84 per cent of Spain’s total export volume and 82 per cent in value last year

The European Union consolidated its position as the leading market for Spanish fruit and vegetable exports in 2025, taking 10mn tonnes of produce worth €15.239bn. This represents a fall of 3 per cent in volume and increase of 5 per cent in value on the previous year.
According to Fepex, EU countries accounted for 84 per cent of Spain’s total exported volume and 82 per cent of the value. This figure rises to 97 per cent when the UK and other European countries are included.
Although the total volume exported to the EU in 2025 fell by 3 per cent last year, this decline was less pronounced than the drop in exports to non-EU countries, which fell by 14 per cent compared to 2024, totalling 316,772 tonnes. According to Fepex, this is a consequence of the protectionist policies of many of these third countries and the complexity of negotiating the phytosanitary protocols required to open their markets.
