The first edition of the Agri-Food Sector Awards praises the company’s pioneering work in produce and flowers

Eurosemillas has received the Innovation Award at the first edition of the Spanish Agri-Food Sector Awards, organised by newspaper ‘elEconomista’ and Banco Santander.

At the awards ceremony in Madrid at the end of November, the jury praised the seed company for its pioneering work in introducing hybrid sunflowers, stringless beans, as well as the chemical delinting of cotton seeds and establishing the first frozen vegetable industry in Andalusia.

Since its creation, Eurosemillas has facilitated the introduction into Spain and other parts of the world of more than 125 varieties of fruit trees such as strawberries, raspberries, avocados, pistachios, and mandarins, among others.

Accepting the award, CEO Ana Cano said: “This recognition honours us and reaffirms our commitment to the transformation of the sector and innovation in the pursuit of new developments. Our model is based on science, technology transfer, and international collaboration. We will continue working to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector and address the challenges of global agriculture”.
