Fruitnet’s industry-leading event for the global fresh tomato business comes to Malaga, Spain, on 11-12 November, with expert speakers set to explore how the category is likely to evolve in the coming years
Fruitnet Tomato Congress takes place in Malaga on 11-12 November, bringing the key players and decision-makers in the European tomato business together for discussions and networking in southern Spain.
This year’s line-up includes Rabobank’s Lambert van Horen, Kacem Bennani Smires of Delassus, Pedro Ruiz of Granada La Palma, Alberto Cuadrado Salmerón of Rijk Zwaan, David Abeijon of Biobest, and Matias Carrizo and Alberto Parra of Carrefour Group, who will be addressing how issues such as climate change and logistical crises are reshaping production, sourcing strategies and research and development in the tomato business.
David Del Pino of Freshtrategy and Andriy Yarmak (FAO, EastFruit) explain what these developments mean for Europe, as well as key growing regions in North Africa, the Mediterranean and Central Asia.
Jordi Ballester of Letitout Food Creativity, Lena Maas of Hudson River, Jim Jefcoate of Hurdletree Associate and Clara Romero of Food Experts will delve into the question of what the tomato of 2030 will look like in terms of taste, nutrition, sustainability, resistance, packaging and branding.
We will hear from seed firms including HM Clause, Hazera, Yuksel Seeds and BASF-Nunhems to understand how efforts to develop higher resistance to viruses, pests and weather extremes are breeding success.
