Fresh Del Monte Produce has announced that its shareholders have approved the change of its corporate name to Del Monte Corporation.

The group said that the moves marks the next step in the company’s evolution following its previously announced acquisition of select assets of Del Monte Foods Corporation and its affiliates.

The corporate name change becomes effective immediately, it confirmed.

Del Monte said the transition reflects its expanded role as the global owner of the Del Monte brand, subject to existing licensing arrangements.

It also supports the company’s long-term vision to ”unlock the full potential of one of the world’s most recognised food brands” through a more unified global strategy, Del Monte stated.

“For more than 135 years, the Del Monte brand has earned the trust of consumers around the world by delivering quality fresh and shelf-stable foods to generations of families,” said Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, Del Monte Corporation chairman and CEO

“As Del Monte Corporation, we remain deeply committed to that foundation while continuing to build for the future.

”Bringing the brand together under one global organisation has created significant opportunities to expand, innovate, and reach consumers in new ways around the world,” he continued.

”We believe we are only beginning to unlock the full potential of one of the world’s most recognisable brands, and we are incredibly excited about the opportunities ahead for our company, our partners, our consumers, and our shareholders.”
