Agrovoltaics, also known as agrophotovoltaics, is a sustainable way to use land for both solar energy and agriculture. The company said the results of the study will help it decide whether to apply the technology to the business in the future.

The project consists of an agrovoltaic installation where various scenarios can be simulated in order to assess whether they can improve fruit production, stabilise temperatures, or improve the efficiency of irrigation.

“With this research project, Fruits de Ponent reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability and modernisation of the agricultural sector by researching innovative solutions that optimise the use of resources and reduce investment risks,” the company said.
