The Global Grape Group (GGG) has launched the Global Table Grape Report today at the 11th International Table Grape Symposium (ITGS) in Murcia, Spain. The report was presented by Colin Fain, CEO of Agronometrics and editor of the report.

The report consolidates country level production and export data for leading table grape producing regions and countries with perspectives contributed by the grower associations of Peru, Chile, Mexico and South Africa. It offers growers, exporters, importers and retailers a comprehensive view of global supply in a single publication.

The GGG was established to provide a platform for information and data sharing, to address common issues critical to the success of the global table grape industry, and ultimately to drive increased global consumption of table grapes.

Global table grape supply has grown significantly, and producing countries increasingly overlap in the same windows and compete for the same markets, while the importance of destination markets continues to shift. At the same time, the transition to new, licensed varieties is transforming the quality and consistency of the grapes we offer consumers worldwide, creating a real opportunity to increase consumption.

“We can only resolve global challenges and take advantage of global opportunities if we understand the market as a whole, and that is exactly the value the Global Table Grape Report brings,” said Luis Miguel Vegas, general manager of Provid and member of the GGG.

Alvaro Aspee, executive director of the Chilean Table Grape Committee and member of the GGG, added: “This first edition provides an important point of reference for table grape production and trade. As more national associations and industry participants contribute, the Global Table Grape Report will become an increasingly relevant and valuable resource for the industry”.
