The investment by Chiquita Group’s ocean transportation division underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing cold chain innovation, with EverFresh technology enabling precise management of oxygen and CO2 levels to extend shelf-life of bananas and other sensitive perishables
Carrier Transicold has announced an order of 1,000 OptimaLine with EverFresh units from Great White Fleet, the ocean transportation arm of Chiquita Group.
According to a statement, the investment underscores both companies’ ”enduring commitments to advancing cold chain innovation”.
With EverFresh, Great White Fleet expand its controlled atmosphere (CA) capabilities, delivering ”consistent freshness and reliability for perishable cargo across global markets”.
It also strives to ensure that deliveries are done with optimal efficiency using Carrier’s OptimaLine container refrigeration solution.
EverFresh active CA technology enables precise management of oxygen and carbon dioxide (CO2) levels within refrigerated containers, slowing the ripening process and extending the shelf-life of bananas and other sensitive perishables.
This maintains quality from origin to destination, improving supply chain resilience and reducing energy consumption and costs.
“EverFresh is engineered for precision and performance with robust CO2 control that’s critical for sensitive shipments like bananas, helping preserve freshness from origin to destination,” said Kay Henze, account manager, global container refrigeration at Carrier Transicold.

Great White Fleet said it has ”long been recognised” in advanced cold chain innovation, with its early adoption of technologies such as Carrier Transicold’s CA systems ”consistently elevating cargo quality and extended shelf-life for customers worldwide”.
The latest investment in EverFresh units further exemplifies its forward-thinking approach, Great White Fleet noted, setting a ”high benchmark for freshness, reliability and performance in perishable cargo transport”.
At the same time, its decision to use EverFresh and OptimaLine will boost its standing as an industry-leader in sustainability and operational excellence, Great White Fleet commented.
