Green Giant Fresh has announced in a press release the addition of avocados to its expansive line of fresh fruits, vegetables and value-added meal solutions.
In association with produce sourcing and logistics firm CH Robinson Company, Green Giant Fresh will start distributing fresh avocados to retailers nationwide in late May.
Branded with the well-known Green Giant icon, the new avocado product line will be available year-round through CH Robinson.
The avocados will be offered in 25 lb and single layer tray packs, and in three, four, and five-count bags.
With a market of 1.2bn lbs pounds per year, and estimated at 2bn lbs by 2018, the firm said avocados are a top five growth item within retail categories recognised as volume movers.
