A sterling speaker line-up has been announced for leading tomato event Fruitnet Tomato Congress, which takes place in Granada, Spain, on 5-6 November

Fruitnet Tomato Congress returns to Spain on 5-6 November 2026, as the annual event once again brings the tomato category together for two days of discussions and tours in Granada, in Spain’s Andalucia region.

Taking place at the facilities of Granada La Palma, this year’s speaker line-up includes Rabobank’s Lambert van Horen, José Luis Molina of Hispatec, Pedro Ruiz of Granada La Palma, David Del Pino of Freshtrategy, Nico van Vliet of Yuksel Seeds and Andriy Yarmak of the FAO, who will be addressing how challenges such as climate change and logistical crises are reshaping production, sourcing strategies and research and development in the tomato business.

Céline Montauriol of Azura, Clara Romero of FoodExperts, Ana Hernandez of Grupo Paloma and Shayne Tyler of Practical Ethics will discuss the most pressing sustainability challenges in tomatoes, including water and labour, while Oasthouse Ventures’ Ed Moorhouse will provide insights into the thinking behind the new Rivenhall Greenhouse project in the UK.

We will hear from seed firms including Rijk Zwaan, Enza Zaden and BASF-Nunhems to understand how efforts to develop higher resistance to viruses, pests and weather extremes are breeding success, while Lena Maas of Hudson River provides an update on the potential of NGTs following EU approval.

Elsewhere, speakers will offer a glimpse into how robotics, AI and other new technologies are expected to impact the tomato business of tomorrow, while Loes van der Velden of Den Berk Délice provides all-important data-driven insights into the different kinds of tomato shoppers the business is seeking to target.

In addition to tasting some of the most exciting new varieties and dishes based on these varieties, delegates will get to take part in various workshops focused on areas including genetics, fourth and fifth generation product lines, and sensory analysis. Details on the tours for the second day will be announced shortly.
