Agromartín’s José Antonio Martín to lead strawberry association after Francisco José Gómez of Cuna de Platero steps down
Freshuelva, the Association of Strawberry Producers and Exporters of Huelva, has appointed José Antonio Martín as its new president.
Martín, who works for Lepe-based supplier Agromartín, was previously the association’s second vice-president.
He takes on the lead role following the resignation of Francisco José Gómez Macías, whose departure from the board of Cuna de Platero precluded him from continuing.
Martín is suppored in his role as president by: Enrique Molina of Fresón de Palos, as first vice-president; Rocío Alba of Frutas El Pinar, as second vice-president; and Francisco José Barroso of Fran y Lolo, who remains as treasurer.
The association said Gómez’s four-year term had seen it strengthen its role as an advocate for the interests of producers and companies, as well as boosting the Huelvan berry sector’s international profile.
Gómez expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him during those four years, and said he was leaving the presidency “with the pride of having represented an extraordinary sector and with the satisfaction of having contributed, along with the entire board of directors, to strengthening the unity of Freshuelva and continuing to promote the name of Huelva and our berries both inside and outside Spain.”
For his part, Martín thanked Gómez for the “dedication, commitment, and work he has carried out during these years in defense of Freshuelva and the entire sector”.
