Announcement caps off a record year for Peruvian table grape exports
Israel has become the latest market to open for Peruvian table grape exporters after the new phytosanitary protocol was approved after three years of negotiations.
Peru joins five other countries – South Africa, the US, Netherlands, Turkey and Uzbekistan – who are currently permitted to supply Israel’s 10mn-inhabitant market.
The announcement rounds off a record 2024/25 season in which exports topped US$2bn, consolidating the country’s position as the world’s leading exporter table grapes. During the campaign, Peruvian grapes reached 44 international markets, notably the US (46 per cent), Europe (24 per cent), and Mexico (8 per cent).
According to plant health authority Senasa, Peruvian table grapes are now exported to 66 markets worldwide.
