After a seven-year absence from the international market, Brazilian melon exporter Itaueira Agropecuária last week marked its return to the export business by exhibiting at Fruit Logistica in Berlin.

The company, which was there as part of a pavilion organised by export association Abrafrutas, says it has invested heavily throughout the past year to revive its international sales.

That includes the inauguration of a new production unit in the north-eastern state of Ceará – a farm with more than 2,000ha of planted area and a state-of-the-art packhouse that it says offers logistical efficiency, process standardisation and rigorous cold chain controls.

The aim, is says, is to ensure consistent delivery and high quality standards.

During the fair, Itaueira explained to partners and visitors how it now monitors products on arrival in their destination markets, a model it implemented during the 2025/26 season.

This allows it to assess the fruit’s condition at international ports and therefore reduce losses.

“Being present at Fruit Logistica reaffirms Itaueira’s positioning in a new phase of expansion,” said Aryan Schut, international sales manager at Itaueira. “Our focus is on building solid relationships, based on product excellence, logistical innovation, and socio-environmental responsibility.”

Throughout the three-day event, the Itaueira team held strategic meetings with importers, distributors, and logistics operators from Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
