Spanish fresh produce trade fair Fruit Attraction is set to celebrate its fourth edition later this year with a greater emphasis on Latin America and a 26 per cent increase in the exhibition area.

The event, which is co-organised by fresh produce federation Fepex and exhibition specialist Ifema, will take place from 24-26 October at the Feria Madrid conference centre, where it will on this occasion fill three pavilions.

Organisers hope to use this increased space to feature greater numbers of international exhibitors, with a particular focus being placed on attracting Latin American companies, after the participation of a number of Brazilian, Mexican and Argentinian firms in 2011.

A further objective for Fepex and Ifema will be to deliver greater European industry participation from outside Spain, after the previous edition attracted exporters from Italy, France, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK.

In terms of visitors, organisers are also hoping to build on the 81 per cent increase in non-Spanish attendees achieved in 2011, with Fruit Attraction’s backers planning to further invest in its International Buyers’ Programme, which provides funds for retail representatives to attend the event.
