The move forms part of Mercadona’s strategy to prioritise domestically sourced fresh produce, especially fruits and vegetables. The home-grown avocados, sourced from Málaga, Granada, Cádiz, Huelva, and Valencia – are available December to April. Customers will be able to buy them both loose and in trays.

The Spanish avocado season at Mercadona kicks off in January with the Hass variety. As the season progresses, sales continue with the Lamb Hass variety, which takes over until the end of the harvest in April.

Mercadona continues to strengthen its ties with the domestic agricultural sector, bringing stable agreements, long-term planning, and purchase security for farmers and producers.
