The US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has granted Transportes Olympic permission to transport freight to destinations in the US.
Transportes Olympic is the first Mexican haulier to be given authorisation under the US-Mexico long-haul trucking programme, which implements provisions in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
US authorities will monitor all Mexican trucks and drivers that cross the border.
Every vehicle will carry GPS-enabled on-board recorders to ensure drivers meet hours-of-service rules.
