Members of the Catalan cooperative voted to appoint Serra as its new president at last week’s general assembly

Members of the Catalan cooperative Fruits de Ponent have voted to appoint Miquel Serra Gòdia as its new president.
“It is with pride and a sense of responsibility that I am able to represent this cooperative and work, through dialogue and collaboration, for the common good of all its members and workers,” Serra said.
Based in Alcarràs, Fruits de Ponent comprises around 180 individual, family-run farms in the region around Lleida, and itself employs around 150 workers.
Each year it produces more than 40,000 tonnes of fruit, as well as other products including nuts and olive oil.
Serra’s appointment follows recent changes to the group’s management, including the arrival of Maria Jesús Sisó Fargues as general director.
