Company’s guacamole and avocado pulp is made with fresh avocados and presented in custom-made formats
Spanish tropicals specialist Montosa says growing European consumption of avocado products is fuelling demand for its guacamole and avocado pulp.
Guacamole sales in Europe exceeded €350mn in 2024, and the market is growing by almost 10 per cent annually, a trend that Montosa seeks to capitalise on. “Our goal is to accompany the growth of the category by offering solutions adapted to new trends,” said commercial director Thierry Athimon. “To do this, we work together with our customers, both in large retailers and restaurants, offering recipes and formats adapted to each channel, each market and each moment of consumption.”
Montosa produces more than 6,000 tonnes of guacamole a year, equivalent to more than 1mn tubs each week. It is made exclusively from fresh fruit, without freezing, ensuring the product conserves all its organoleptic and nutritional qualities. According to Athimon, “both the taste and texture are far superior to those of other products that have undergone additional manipulation”.
Following on from last week’s Fruit Attraction, Montosa travelled to Cologne, Germany, to present its processed fresh fruit products at Anuga, the world’s leading food fair. From 4-8 October, international buyers who visited the company’s stand were able to taste dishes prepared live by a chef and talk to the company’s sales team.
“For us, going to Anuga was essential. Our pulps and guacamole have a huge international projection. We already supply the main supermarket chains throughout Europe, and our volume continues to grow,” Athimon said.
Montosa also noted an upward trend in the market for its avocado pulp. “Our pulp is super versatile… It works well as a spread on healthy toast or sandwiches, but also as an ingredient in recipes, such as salads, hamburgers… with the ease of opening the tub and serving,” Athimon said.
