The consumer price index in Morocco increased by some 1.4 per cent in the month of March, compared with February, driven by a significant rise in fruit and vegetable prices, according to L'Economiste.

The average vegetable price increased by 19.5 per cent in March, with fruit prices rising by an average of 4.1 per cent.

The cause of this rise has been attributed to bad weather conditions, with an estimated 168,000ha of production area being damaged.
