International fresh produce producer-marketer Naturipe Farms has appointed four new directors to enhance the effectiveness of the group's operations and communications.

Michael Bentel, a former Walmart quality control manager, has joined the group as director of food safety and quality assurance, responsible for food quality, food safety, food security, label and packaging design and standards and GAP farm practices.

'I am driven to keeping the public safe from food-borne illnesses and to protect Naturipe Farms brand as a high-quality label,' Mr Bentel said.

Richard Burden has also been handed a role at Naturipe as director of transportation, responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and maintaining economical and efficient transportation services on a global scale.

A new director of communications has been brought in in the shape of Robin Doran, who will direct strategic communications planning, develop corporate communications programmes and implement both consumer and trade media relations and advertising programmes.

Additionally, Mohinder Sikka has joined as senior director of operations, aiding the group's approach to delivering operational excellence throughout the food supply chain.

'Each director will play a key role in Naturipe Farms' continuous improvement approach to delivering world class food safety and to assure customers of the highest quality fruit on the market today,' the group said in a statement.
