As part of shipping company NYKCool's ongoing restructuring in the wake of NYK Reefers' recent buyout of J Lauritzen's 50 per cent share in the business, John Rowland has been handed responsibility for the group's chartering and commercial operations, it was announced today.
Fruitnet.com also understands that the reorganisation has precipitated the departure of NYKCool head of corporate communications Svante Hellberg.
According to a spokesperson, it is now clear that a decision by the group's owners torationalise the organisation includes closing down its Stockholm-basedcommunications department.
Mr Hellberg, who has been with NYKCool under its various names for 31 years, will no longer be working for the company as of 1 May 2009.
As announced at the beginning of February, current NYKCool chief executive Mats Jansson and chief operating officer Lars Rutberg are both due to leave the company at the end of March.
Boris Gersling, currently regional vice-president in charge of NYKCool’s activities in South America, has been named as the company's new CEO.
