North American fresh produce group Oppy is extending its consumer-facing Happy Berry brand into blueberries for the first time

Fresh produce group Oppy is expanding its premium berry portfolio with the introduction of Happy Berry blueberries.
Oppy said it is bringing the brand to a new segment with a premium conventional blueberry programme from Peru arriving in mid-August.
Originally designed as a brand that represents a ”memorable berry experience”, the company said Happy Berry was built around consumer appeal and strong quality perceptions.
First introduced for hydroponic strawberries, Oppy is now extending the label to blueberries that ”deliver the same attributes consumers value most” – namely flavour, sweetness and firm texture.
“Happy Berry has always stood for a berry experience consumers can feel good about choosing,” said Tim Crane, blueberry category manager at Oppy.
“We’ve seen strong response to the brand because it represents quality, freshness and great taste.
”This blueberry programme is a natural extension of that promise, bringing those same attributes to a category where consumers are looking for consistency and better eating experiences,” Crane noted.
Oppy’s explained that the expansion reaffirms its commitment to developing differentiated berry programmes that respond to evolving consumer expectations.
Alongside Happy Berry blueberries, Oppy is growing its premium Hunkaberry jumbo blueberry programme, adding Peruvian supply to complement its existing California season.
This, it said, creates greater continuity of premium jumbo fruit availability throughout the year.
”With deep-rooted grower relationships and a global sourcing network, Oppy continues to create premium produce solutions that connect growers, retailers and consumers through quality they can taste,” it added.
