Shipments surge in first quarter of 2025
Peru exported 626 tonnes of pitahaya worth US$1.54mn in the first quarter of 2025, representing a five-fold increase in volume and four-fold increase in value compared to the same period of 2024.
The figures, from Fresh Fruit Peru, showed that average prices for the quarter fell 16 per cent from the year-earlier period from US$2.92 to US$2.45.
Camposol led the charge, accounting for 60 per cent of total exports. It was followed by Fruitxchange with 11 per cent and Dragon Fruit Export with 8 per cent.
Spain was the main destination for Peruvian pitahaya, taking 56 per cent of total shipments, or 352 tonnes. The UK and Netherlands were second and third.
The pitahaya exported during these months of 2025 was primarily fresh, accounting for 99 per cent of the total exported, or 625 tonnes.
