Philly Produce salesmen

Jose 'Blue' Flores and Jim Canterino

A new fresh produce distributor, Philly Produce, has opened for business on the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market (PWPM) in the US.

Philly Produce – a subsidiary of Wuhl Shafman Lieberman Corporation based in Newark, New Jersey – launched at the market on 27 August, according to a news statement from PWPM.

The company is staffed by salesmen Jim Canterino and Jose ‘Blue’ Flores, and offers a full line of fresh fruits and vegetables, with a specialty in tropical products.

This includes diverse pre-cut fruits and vegetables, which are processed by Wuhl Shafman Lieberman and shipped fresh daily to Philly Produce.

Philly Produce occupies units H6 and H7 at the Philadelphia market.

For many years, PWPM said Canterino and Flores were both salesmen for another firm, which had previously occupied the units that now house Philly Produce.

Canterino's produce career started in 1988 with involvement in his family's Philadelphia area retail and wholesale produce business.

“We are thrilled to have Philly Produce become part of our market,” said Sonny DiCrecchio, the president and CEO of PWPM.

“Jim and Blue are well-respected, possess a lot of experience and add a great deal to our market’s already-competitive nature. We welcome them and wish Philly Produce a long and fruitful future here.”

The new Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market opened for business in June 2011.

The facility is now home to 23 wholesale produce businesses enjoying combined annual sales exceeding US$1bn.
