More than 50 participants attended Planasa’s first-ever US Meet & Greet at the company’s facilities in Watsonville, California recently. The breeder said the event marked a significant milestone as it continues to strengthen its presence and partnerships across North America.

According to Planasa, the event was the first time a breeding company brought together shippers, retailers, and growers from across the US, Mexico, and even Spain in a single gathering.

Participants took part in blind tastings featuring varieties from the four berry categories – strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, and were given an extensive tour of Planasa’s strawberry breeding pipeline, which includes high-quality varieties tailored to diverse growing regions, including Santa Maria and Oxnard in California, Baja California, Central Mexico, and even Canada.

The Meet & Greet provided an opportunity for networking, knowledge exchange, and strengthening partnerships across the supply chain. According to Planasa, attendees expressed strong enthusiasm for both the quality of the varieties presented and the opportunity to connect with industry peers in such a collaborative setting.

“This event highlights Planasa’s commitment to innovation and to building strong relationships across the industry,” said CEO Michael Brinkmann. “We are proud to bring together key players from different regions to share insights and explore the future of strawberry production together.”
