The variety won top honours in the Varietal Innovation Category
Planasa’s Demoiselle strawberry variety seven finalists to scoop the Sival Gold Innovation Award in the Varietal Innovation category.

According to the breeder, Demoiselle is a premium strawberry of French origin that stands out for its combination of earliness, elegance, and flavour. “With its elongated shape and attractive bright red colour, it boasts an exceptional organoleptic profile: a sweet, highly aromatic flavour reminiscent of wild strawberries, without any acidity,” Planasa said.
“Its plant structure and long peduncles facilitate harvesting, while its agronomic robustness – with tolerance to powdery mildew, botrytis, anthracnose, and various soilborne diseases – makes it a variety especially valued by growers.”
Mélanie Clement, commercial manager of Planasa France, described the award as “a great source of pride for the entire team and highlights the work carried out at Planasa to offer top-quality varieties capable of meeting market and consumer demands”.
The Sival Innovation Competition aims to reward the most innovative equipment, products, and services in the horticultural sector, with particular emphasis on developments that provide added value for both producers and the market.
The official award ceremony will take place on 14 January, during the next edition of Sival in Angers, France, an event where Planasa will once again be exhibiting.
