The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has announced that it has restructured its senior management team in a move to more closely align it with the association's new strategic plan and the expectations of its members.
The changes, which began in October with the move to add the title of chief executive officer to president Bryan Silbermann's existing responsibilities, will see the management team charged with implementing the strategic plan and overseeing staff and member leadership development and succession planning.
'In the work we did last year planning for PMA's future, we identified the benefits of strengthening key staff roles by assigning responsibilities and titles that clarify the leadership role and accountability of the senior management team,' said Dave Corsi, chairman of the board for PMA. 'PMA is blessed to have a staff with unmatched professionalism and experience and these changes will make the senior management team even more effective at leading the association's delivery of member value.'
Further changes have seen Lorna Christie, formerly senior vice-president of industry products and services, take on the role of chief operating officer and Duane Eaton move to a position as chief administrative officer having previously worked as senior vice-president of association services.
Completing the team are former financial services director Yvonne Bull, now in the position of chief financial officer, chief science officer Bob Whitaker and PMA Foundation for Industry Talent executive director Cindy Seel.
The team and I are very excited by our new strategic plan's vision to strengthen and lead the global produce community, and are looking forward to leading the staff's implementation of the plan for the future of the association and the industry we lead,' said Mr Silbermann. 'We are very fortunate to have added the wonderful industry experience of Dr. Bob Whitaker to the PMA staff this past year, and by also adding the insight and strategic vision of Cindy Seel to the senior team, we take a step closer to enhancing and integrating the vital work of PMA's Foundation for Industry Talent into everything we do.'
