Rains brought much-needed relief for producers in 2024/25

Huelva strawbs

The value of Andalusian strawberry exports grew 9 per cent to just over €665mn in 2024/25 the season, according to data from the Andalusian Regional Government’s Price Observatory. Shipment volume grew 3 per cent to 210,107 tonnes.

The improvement was down to much-need rainfall in the first part of 2025. Although the rains caused significant damage to production in the early stages of the season, the volumes harvested from March onwards were more than enough to compensate for the losses.

The main export markets were Germany (29 per cent), France (16 per cent), the UK (14 per cent) and Italy (8 per cent).

Andalusia had 6,550ha of strawberry plantings in 2024/25, the bulk of which are found in the province on Huelva. Overall, 315,710 tonnes of strawberries were harvested last season, representing a 1.4 per cent increase compared to the 2023/24 season.
