Rewe Romania is set to launch 40 new stores in the country by the end of 2014, according to local media reports.
The group will open the outlets under the Penny Market and XXL Mega Discount retail brands, while also upgrading and modernising its existing network at a combined cost of over €100m, Business Review Romania reported.
German retailer Rewe has been operating in the Romanian market for ten years and currently boasts a network of 144 stores.
