Company scoops award for Excellence in Environmental Sustainability at PremioeXpor 2025
Reybanpac has won a prize for Excellence in Environmental Sustainability from the Ecuadorean Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor) as part of its PremioeXpor 2025 awards.
Receiving the award at a gala ceremony this week, the company’s general manager José Antonio Vargas said: “Since our inception nearly five decades ago, we have sought to make a positive impact on the environment and on the people who are part of our value chain. This award reaffirms our commitment to continuing to carry out responsible management that adds value to society”.
In the environmental sphere, Reybanpac said it is committed to soil health, circular economy, the biosecurity of its plantations, the efficient consumption of resources, and the conservation of biodiversity. The company’s multiple socio-environmental certifications endorse these actions.
Among the environmental projects developed in recent years is the application of microorganisms through a biofactory to improve soil structure and fertility, which in turn has reduced the use of nematicides in banana crops to zero, generating a positive impact on the environment. Also noteworthy is the investment in a UV system for disinfecting water from surface water sources, which aims to prevent the spread of bacteria and fungi that cause diseases such as moko and fusarium TR4.
These lines of action are complemented by the promotion of decent work, economic growth, and gender equality, benefiting the more than 6,000 employees who make up Reybanpac. Furthermore, by the Wong Foundation, the organisation has been ensuring the development and well-being of rural communities near its operations by providing quality education to children, adolescents, and adults for over 30 years.
Iván Wong, chairman of the board of Fedexpor, oversaw giving the welcome speech at the event. He highlighted the sector’s perseverance in the face of the challenges that companies face daily.
“The PremioeXpor Gala is a great moment to celebrate the resilience and strength of the export sector and the great effort made by trade actors who, with hard work and focus, overcome the many challenges present in our business environment, in each of their sectors and each of the markets they serve,” he said.
Xavier Rosero, executive president of Fedexpor, closed the event by highlighting the excellence and sustainable commitment of the award-winning companies. “As a federation, we are proud to witness the growth of our exporters and especially the companies that have been recognised today for upholding the standard of excellence that characterizes our sector,” he said.
