Spanish stonefruit and soft fruit grower-exporter Royal has kicked off its Moroccan blueberry season. The company said its exclusive Blue Aroma and Royal Blue varieties, grown on its own farms, will be available to European consumer through to June, covering the gap between the Southern Hemisphere season and European production.
Blue Aroma will make up the bulk of volumes in the first months of the season, while Royal Blue, which has a later start, will ensure continuity of supply in the second half of the season.
“With 100 per cent undercover production we can guarantee continuity of supply to our customers,” Royal said. “The privileged location of the farm, near the Atlantic coast, also plays a significant part in the delivery of earliness and outstanding quality.”
The company said its state-of-the-art packing and sorting facilities ensured that even the most demanding customers’ specifications were met.
