Minister highlighted need to work in a coordinated manner to ensure the profitability of the sector
The Regional Minister of Agriculture for Murcia, Sara Rubira, met with Joaquín Rubio, the new president of Ailimpo this week to congratulate him on his recent appointment and encourage him to “continue tirelessly defending the great work done by lemon and grapefruit farmers in the Region of Murcia”.
Rubira noted: “We share the concern about the challenges faced by lemon and grapefruit producers in the region and the need to work in a coordinated manner to ensure the joint profitability of the sector, offering solutions and tools to agricultural professionals”.
She recalled “that both the regional government and Ailimpo are working closely to find ways for farmers to have tools to protect themselves against market instability and to better regulate themselves when production increases occur”.
Rubio is an agricultural engineer, professional farmer, and lemon producer. Since 2023, he has been president of the El Limonar de Santomera cooperative.
