Sharp Interpack packaging

Sharp Interpack (Sharpak) has revealed that it has agreed at deal to purchase new assets from Rexam plc, in the shape of its Deeside thermoforming business.

The group said in a statement that the 'exciting' move represented the continued drive in its strategy of investment and growth.

The purchase was a logical step following the 2006 purchase of the Yate business from Rexam, Sharpak said, and further consolidates the company's position as 'the leading supplier of rigid thermoformed plastic packaging to the retail and food sector in the UK and continental Europe'.

'This acquisition confirms Sharp Interpack as the pre-eminent deployer of the RTF technology to the benefit of our customer base and brings us exposure to new market segments where we can offer our blend of environmentally sound, innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions,' said Andrew Copson, deputy managing director of the group.
