Exports up 65 per cent in the first month of the new campaign

Tropical fruit producers in Granada’s Tropical Coast have reported a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign. According to data provided to EFE by the Centre for Technical Assistance and Inspection of Foreign Trade (Soivre), exports of avocados, mangoes, and custard apples totalled 1,709 tonnes in September, an increase of almost 65 per cent on the year-earlier figure.
Shipments of mangoes more than doubled, reaching 990 tonnes compared to 465 tonnes the previous year. Avocados – principally Hass – also registered considerable growth, going from 263 tonnes kilos last year to 391 tonnes.
Exports of custard apple have increased by 7 per cent at the start of the season, with 297 tonnes exported to Europe compared to 276 tonnes at the start of the previous season. Exports of other tropicals such as papaya and dragon fruit totalled 31 tonnes.
The bulk of the region’s tropical fruit is sold in Europe, mainly in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, and Italy.
