Q1 shipments up 44 per cent in volume and 35 per cent in value
Peru exported 22,278 tonnes of fresh limes worth US$22mn in the first quarter of 2025, representing an increase of 44 per cent in volume and 35 per cent in value compared to the year-earlier period, according to FreshFruit Peru. The improved results came despite the average price falling by 6.2 per cent.
The US remained the main market, taking 48 per cent of the total export volume, equivalent to 9,961 tonnes worth US$10.5mn. This was an increase of 24 per cent in volume and 15 per cent in value compared to 2024.
Chile was in second place, accounting for 12 per cent of total shipments or 3,928 tonnes. This was an increase of 68 per cent on the year-earlier period. The Netherlands, in third place, also registered a surge in exports, which climbed 480 per cent in volume and 523 per cent in value to reach 1,271 tonnes worth US$1.8mn.
