Polish fresh produce importer-distributor Targban has announced that it has entered into an agreement to take over the banana ripening facilities of Del Monte Poland, the Polish affiliate of Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc.
According to Targban, the addition of the new banana ripening facility – located in Warsaw – 'significantly expands its capabilities within its core product group', while also reinforcing its market leading position as a supplier of fresh produce and solutions to the largest retail groups and local wholesale leaders in Eastern Europe.
“We are pleased with a seamless conclusion of the agreement which enables us to take our capabilities within this strategic segment of our activity to the next level,' explained Targban manager Rafal Bury.
'Targban is committed to continue its formidable trade relationship with Del Monte, which, established more than a decade ago, allowed for a swift execution of this landmark transaction,' he added.
