Target

Target has almost finished revamping 20 stores in Houston, TX, to include a 40 per cent bigger food offer, reports the Houston Chronicle.

The retail giant is adding around 10,000ft2 more grocery space to its typical 135,000ft2 store.

Spokeswoman Kristin Jahnke said: 'You'll find fresh items that frequently top weekly shopping lists, like bananas, seasonal fruit and baby carrots. It's really about added convenience.'

The format was rolled out in 2010, when 450 stores were remodelled, and another 380 will make the transition this year.

Jahnke said newly formatted stores saw a 6 per cent rise in sales and traffic.
