Dutch company The Greenery says it has high hopes for its New Zealand kiwifruit import business as it looks ahead to the next six months.

In particular, the recent arrival of new-season Zespri SunGold fruit has kicked off what the group expects will be an especially positive campaign.

“Everything looks excellent,” said the company’s import relations manager, Wilfred Heijstek. “The Sungold kiwifruit are of great quality and have a large range of sizes, which will certainly support sales.”

He added: “Consistent quality and good availability are important for all our customers. Together with Zespri, we ensure that this is guaranteed.”

New Zealand is on course to produce another large crop of around 220mn trays this year.

For The Greenery, the season is expected to run until 43, after which production of Zespri kiwifruit from Europe will follow.
