The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has named a new 13,500 TEU containership during a ceremony at the Port of Hamburg on 25 May.

The newly-named ultra-large container ship AIN SNAN was delivered after a nine-month building phase in January this year, with a length of 366m and a width of 48m, and a loading capacity of over 145,000 dead weight tonnage which provides a capacity of more than 800 slots for refrigerated containers.

UASC invited some 100 customers, shipping company representatives and the terminal operator Eurogate to the naming ceremony, with captain Nazr Ul Islam presented with a plaque bearing the Admiralty Coat of Arms of the Port of Hamburg.

According to UASC, the vessel is deployed on the AEC8 Far East-Red Sea-Europe service, in which CMA CGM and CSCL are also partners (marketing the line as FAL2/AEX7).
