European fresh produce giant Univeg has reportedly secured a lease on a new 20,000m2 warehouse in Bykovo, south-east of Moscow in the district of Ramensky.
According to Colliers International, an international consultancy specialising in real estate, the warehouse is in the final stages of construction and will be used by Univeg's Russian distribution subsidiary to house coldstorage facilities, including a number of temperature-controlled rooms from which it will manage the handling and delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The site, known as Bykovo Infrastructure, was established in 2001 and is one of the largest industrial warehousing sites in the Moscow region.
Covering a total area of 210ha, the estate is linked to the Russian capital by rail and road.
Univeg Logistics Russia was founded in November 2005 and since 2009 has undergone significant expansion, with one warehouse facility for perishables in Novokosino, east of Moscow, and a further two at the Trilogy Park in Tomilino, south-east of the city.
