strawberries

Viva Agriculture, a leading Israeli exporter of fresh produce to Europe and Russia, has announced that it will launch its strawberry season towards the end of November this year.

'The strawberry fields are developing well de to excellent weather conditions in Israel,' explained product manager Itzik Gerstein.

The group offers varieties including Barak, Gili, Yasmin, Hadas, Yael and Tamar, which boast extended shelf-life and a sweet taste having been developed by Dr Nir Dai from Agriculture Research Organisation at the Volcani Institute.

'All our growers are certified by GlobalGAP and use biological pesticide, with minimal use of chemical ingredients,' Gerstein added.

The company, which draws its strawberries from the main growing area of the Sharon Valley, will be participating at Fruit Logistica in Berlin for the third time next year.
