Daniel Sauvaitre

At the annual general meeting of the World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA), which took place at last week's Fruit Logistica in Berlin, representatives voted for Daniel Sauvaitre of France's national topfruit association, the ANPP, to become WAPA's new president.

Sauvaitre replaces Peter Beaven of Pipfruit New Zealand, who has chaired the association for the past two years.

At the same time, Todd Fryhover of the US's Washington Apple Commission was elected as WAPA's new vice-president.
