Zim Shipping

Israeli shipper Zim Integrated Shipping Services announced a loss of US$68m for the second quarter of 2011 compared with a profit of US$3m for the same quarter last year.

Despite the loss, the result marks an improvement on the company's loss of US$111m during the first quarter of 2011, thanks to an increase in revenues and volumes handled.

Revenue stood at US$1bn for the second quarter compared with US$912m in the first quarter and US$933m in the year-earlier period.
