Initiative during British Tomato Fortnight is expected to raise £25,000
Aldi has teamed up with Teenage Cancer Trust in a fundraising drive aimed at supporting young people facing cancer.
In a two-week fundraising initiative starting from Monday 2 June, proceeds from sales of the supermarket’s 220g Specially Selected Piccolato Tomatoes will contribute to an expected £25,000 donation for the charity.
The funds will help Teenage Cancer Trust continue its vital work supporting young people aged 13-24 who are diagnosed with cancer. The cash will go towards funding specialist nurses, youth support coordinators, and the charity’s dedicated units within NHS hospitals across the UK.
The initiative forms part of Aldi’s ongoing partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust, which has already generated more than £11 million through customer donations, colleague-led fundraising, and cause-related marketing activity.
Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “Tomatoes are a staple for many of our customers, so this is a simple but powerful way for people to get involved and help make a difference to young people across the country.
“At Aldi, we’re committed to giving back to the communities we serve, and we’re proud to help Teenage Cancer Trust continue its incredible work supporting young people and their families during an incredibly tough time.”
Michelle Aucott, senior partnership manager for Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Every penny we receive makes a huge difference to young people with cancer and their loved ones. Aldi colleagues and customers have gone above and beyond for Teenage Cancer Trust so we can ensure young people with cancer aged 13-24 receive the sensitive, individual care and support they need.”
