Eurofruit Congress Southern Hemisphere, the annual conference and exhibition event for the region’s fresh produce industry, is to head to Uruguay for the first time on 1-3 December.

Taking place at the Conrad Hotel in Uruguay’s popular tourist resort of Punta del Este, Eurofruit Congress Southern Hemisphere will bring together some 350 delegates in discussion over the current issues affecting the region’s fruit and vegetable export markets.

The event’s programme considers the latest trends influencing the key areas of the region’s fresh produce business, including logistics, costs and competitiveness, product opportunities, new markets and trade agreements.

Horacio Ozer Ami, chairman of Upefruy which is supporting the event, said: “Eurofruit Congress Southern Hemisphere will provide a very good opportunity to show firsthand the potential of Uruguay’s fresh fruit industry.

“The international community will also have the chance to really appreciate Uruguay’s logistical advantages and see the many important investments which have been made during the last few years at the Port of Montevideo and at the international airport in the capital.”

The organizer, Eurofruit Magazine, will offer delegates a 20 per cent saving on registration fees made online at www.eurofruitcongress.com/sh before 1 November, with further savings available for groups of colleagues and South American delegates wishing to attend.

The three-day event also offers a limited number of companies the opportunity to sponsor and exhibit their products to hundreds of local and international fresh fruit and vegetable representatives, key decision makers, retailers, buyers and service providers.

Sponsored by Caputto, Milagro, San Miguel, Seven Seas, Lantao, Sensitech, Uproa, Fruit Logistica and NYKCool, the networking opportunities are also set to be attractive.
