Premier Fresh Australia has expanded its national footprint with the acquisition of leading capsicum and melon farming operation, Double D Produce, and its IL Primo Foods value-add business.
Located in Ayr, North Queensland, Double D Produce is a second-generation business encompassing 400ha of modern, sustainably irrigated open-field farms, with 300ha under crop, producing premium capsicum and melon varieties.
The business is supported by an in-house propagation nursery, a state-of-the-art grading and packing facility, and the IL Primo Foods operation, a state-of-the-art high-care facility for value-add and Individual Quick Freezing, which helps to maximise crop utilisation and reduce food waste.
“For more than 50 years, Double D Produce has been growing premium capsicums and melons. This fits perfectly with Premier’s end-to-end supply chain of its core categories,” said Anthony Di Pietro, Group CEO of Premier Fresh Australia.
“We are also excited by the value-add growth opportunities IL Primo Foods offers.”
