Current programme includes six growers with plans to increase plantings to 150ha by 2030

Dorì is the commercial brand of the yellow-fleshed actinidia variety AC 1536, developed through research at the University of Udine and the University of Bologna in Italy.

The Australian Dorì programme includes six growers – five based in Western Australia and one in Victoria – who together have planted 63ha to date, with expansion plans toward 150ha by full maturity in 2030.

Jordan Bain, Redland’s head of sales & marketing, said the acquisition was a strategic move reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering the most desired premium fruit brands and provides Australian retailers with first access to a high-performing, early maturing gold kiwifruit that fills a critical seasonal gap in supermarket supply.

According to Bain, the early-maturing variety – ready in February – presents a “beautiful and bright gold” piece of fruit with unmistakable flavour. He added that the brand’s timing makes Dorì a perfect fit for the existing gap in retail supply when no gold kiwifruit is available in the Australian market.

The fruit is grown by leading Australian growers under modern horticulture systems, with each piece nurtured by hand, and is supported by Redland’s rigorous quality control practices, advanced packing facilities and long-term investment in crop protection, technology and sustainability.
