Chinese firm Joyvio has apparently entered into a strategic partnership with one of Chile’s leading fruit grower-exporters Subsole in order to supply the Asian country.

Joyvio’s managing director Chen Shaopeng made the announcement at the Produce Marketing Association’s (PMA) Fresh Connections Chile event, according to a report by Fresh Fruit Portal.

Shaopeng told delegates that Joyvio, in a joint venture with Subsole, had invested in five separate Chilean fruit-growing operations for table grapes, blueberries, walnuts, kiwifruit and wine grapes.

Ultimately, the five purchases will eventually be consolidated into one holding structure, the report said.

“Subsole will help source and ship the best quality fruits to China, “ Shaopeng said. “We are in the process of building an import joint venture in China in order to source the best quality fruits globally and into China. We will be responsible for the distribution and the supply to supermarkets.”

Shaopeng added that Joyvio plans to expand further in the South American country and establish similar partnerships in South East Asia, Australia, the US and Europe.

Joyvio owns China’s largest blueberry grower, Wallen Blueberry Fruits, and the nation’s largest kiwifruit grower, Zhong Xin Nong Ye, according to the report.
