Agrexco red grapefruit 2010

Israeli exporter Agrexco has revealed that it has now started exporting its Carmel-branded BioTOP organic red grapefruit, after hot weather caused an initial delay in the ripening of the fruit.

According to the company, the fruit is in 'excellent shape' with good colour, and are being sold in one-layer trays for selling in cartons.

'The marketing season will stretch until June 2011, in response to clients' requests,' said Eitan Kurant, manager of Agrexco's organic category.

The group's crop of BioTOP organic Sweetie citrus fruit is also progressing well, slowly turning yellow in colour ahead of picking and shipping, with Mr Kurant noting that demand is high and the season will run through until February next year.

Meanwhile, this year's first Carmel BioTOP organic pepper exports are on their way to the European market, including, for the first time, an organic Ever Green pepper.

The export season will continue through until June 2011, with Europe and the US serving as the main markets for the peppers.
