Consumers in the Basque Country, Aragon and Catalonia spend the most on fruits and vegetables in Spain according to a new study by the EAE Business School.

The report on healthy eating, which cites 2016 figures from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and the Environment, shows that people in the Basque Country spent an average of €302 per year, while those in Aragon and Catalonia spent €297 and €292 respectively.

By contrast, per capita spending in Castilla-La-Mancha was just €207 while in Andalucía it stood at €218.

The report also found that consumption and expenditure on unhealthy foods had risen by 2.3 per cent on the previous year, with the average Spaniard consuming 14.13kg of such food worth €64.
